The Return

So, clearly this space has been collecting dust. whoops.

no one reads this, but I'm writing this more out of some kind of self-preservation principle.

right....lets leave a time capsule on the internet. real fucking smart.

also this blog was meant specifically for my time in korea, so the web title isn't really applicable. fuck it.

i think this post will be some form of streaming thoughts

i'm 25 now. i was 21 when i made my first post. wut. da. fuq.

i'm so sick of.....i don't even know how to describe it. but at the age of 25 i feel like i have considerably less control of my life than I did 3, 4, 5, 6 years ago. AND FOR NO GOOD FUCKING REASON.

i have a theory that most stuff goes on the internet either because people are pissed and bitchy about something.........OR because they want to look cool. I inherently have very little trust in positive reviews, because they're probably written by the manufacturer (or company, restaurant, etc. etc.) (ps. this isn't always true....lets not be so pessimistic alex...)

I really do think I could manage to do all the things I want to do in my life. its not cockiness. its not me jumping in headfirst. I think i'm just in an environment of pessimism...and a lack of belief.

i need. something. someone. sometime. somewhere. somehow

after 1 week...

after one week of school...here are some things.

class is really boring. I mean, class is always really boring. Maybe its just more boring because I can't look forward to play playstation when i get home :(

I got sick like the day after I got to school. due to the recent paranoia surrounding swine flu (or whatever it is now...koreans call it something different) i decided not to tell anyone and just skipped a whole bunch of orientation shit and stayed in my room for two days...didn't want to get randomly quarantined or some shit. Yes, I'm fine now.

I'm generally bored like all the time now. Not that I'm not doing anything, but I just feel somewhat disenchanted by everything right now. Oh well, I'm sure it'll pass.

eh...guess thats not much. I'll come up with more later.

PS: fried chicken is amazing here. OMG

sports freestyle

Jay Cutler is a walking talking vagina.

Michael Vick should play.

The Memphis Grizzlies, if they sign Allen Iverson, are going to explode. Literally. there will be a crater where there used to be the city of Memphis.

Seriously, Jay Cutler should walk around with a baseball bat shoved up his ass.

Clippers are going to surprise. (seriously, look at their starting 5. its not playoff-worthy)

David Khan just might be the dumbest GM since Matt Millen.

Ramon Sessions should've been signed like5 months ago to a max deal. This guy is a STUD

Speaking of douchebag QB's...Brett Favre is a pile of douche too.

The Mavericks aren't going to do anything. Again

The suns are going to suck. AGAIN

Anthony Randolph is the shiznit. So is Aron Brooks.

Ricky Rubio belongs with favre and cutler in like the 3rd circle of hell or something

If we took Magic, Jordan, Barkley, Malone, and Ewing, and put them up against Paul, Kobe, Lebron, Carmelo, and Dwight. Who would win? My money's still on the old-schoolers

new hobbies

So, as I've previously mentioned, I'm considering the whole neo-cool-awesome trend of photography.

There are actually some very quality photo moments here in Korea. There is a river that splits the city right down the middle and there are numerous bridges here that gives you some interesting angles and perspectives.

Another thing I'm considering, is a martial art. I've been doing some research on it. Taekwondo seems like the obvious route, as I am in Korea. However, Taekwondo relies more on the foot than the fist, as the foot allows you to have more space between you and your opponent.

Honestly, I'm just not much of a kicker. I like using my hands more.

Which leaves me with several options. Wing Chun is something I haven't heard of but seems great for what i'm looking for. However the nearest place in Korea is a little over an hour away by subway. There is a place in Beaver County, but...yea.

Muay Thai seems like an obvious choice, but that style seems more...chaotic, and less centered on any sort of philisophical principle other than kill your foe as fast as possible.

So in the end I'll probably just take Taekwondo at the university.

The search will continue...

1 month has past

1 month and then some. Honestly I don't really feel like I've kept you guys too much in the dark, but if so, my apologies.

I've become somewhat bored lately; I no longer go to bed mad early (because of jet lag) and now i'm up til around 1 or 2 just in front of the computer. It used to be that I would come home, eat dinner, then go to sleep. Oh well.

My korean is...progressing. slightly. Its cool. I like to think by the time I get back i'll have it down. I could probably write about 70 percnt of this in korean, which is good.

Anywho, i've given considerable thought to buying an SLR camera, which would make this blog infinitely more interesting. I'll know by the end of hte month.

Anyways I haven't really done anything especially exciting...drank a bit, ate some stuff...nothing weird.

Boo suggested writing about an observation...which is...: Korean's are crazy tall. Like...fo' real.

Day 1

Landed. Hurray. Wooo.

The whole travel procedure wasn't so bad. nothing bad happened although i almost missed my first flight due to my exploring the airport. Oh well.

THe flight was you know...cool. I watched a shit ton of movies though. a future posting will be devoted to a review of all the movies I watched. There was also one flight attendant who was just clearly out of her element catering to non-english speakers (it was a delta flight). She had trouble interpreting the word "juice" (its the same in korean with some inflection).

Anyways, I landed an hour early, which is awesome because I just took my time getting out of customs, which included a health check from 3 really bored looking dudes. Swine flu's a pretty big deal here i think.

My cousin picked me up, and we went to one of my grandma's house for dinner (waayyy early for me like....like 4:30) then we went to Coex, which is like the megamall of the world and did some small grocery shopping and walked around some more.

OOO and we called 김혜선!!!!! Apparently she's really bored because she's not a student and she doesn't have a job in Korea, so i'm assuming we'll be hanging out for a bit at some point.

That was basically the extent of my day...got a nice selection of korean snack type foods for my more... "real" dinner....떡복기, 만두, and 좃발. i dunno the right spelling for all that...but its spicy rice cake, dumplings, and pig feet. fuck yea.

ya....i'll get to taking pictures around here maybe next week.
